Diabetes

Apart from cancer, one disease that really freaks people out is diabetes. In the following paragraphs, youll be able to know about the symptoms of diabetes and how is diabetes caused.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body malfunctions in either one or both of these ways: it does not produce enough insulin or it does not properly respond to insulin.

Insulin is a hormone that instructs the cells of the body to absorb glucose so that it will be changed into energy. Since the human body cannot take glucose in, it stays in the blood which leads to many detrimental effects. Diabetes in its purest sense has two types: type 1 and type 2.

The first type of diabetes is categorized as an autoimmune disease that's arises because of genetic tendencies and other factors. In this type, the immune system attacks and kills the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. This event leads to symptoms such as frequent urination, unusual thirst, extreme hunger, unusual weight loss and extreme fatigue and irritability.

The other type of diabetes which is type 2 is related with the lifestyle of the person. It is caused by insulin resistance or the bodys inability to respond to insulin. That is why no matter how much insulin is produced, the body doesn't respond. Because there isn't any response, the glucose can be absorbed by the cells therefore it remains in the blood leading to scary effects in the body. These effects include excessive thirst and appetite, increased urination, unusual weight loss or weight gain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, slow-healing sores or cuts, itchy skin and blurred vision.

If you have some or all of the symptoms mentioned, then it is recommended that you visit a doctor. They will run tests on you and when you are diagnosed with the condition, youll be given medication to control the increasingly high glucose levels. He or she might also tell you to alter your diet. If you just follow all the instructions of the doctor, you will just be able to get by. However, you should be wary about symptoms that need immediate medical attention that could arise anytime or anywhere you are.

The symptoms you should be wary of are nausea, weakness, excessive thirst and urination and pain in the abdomen. Also part of the symptoms are rapid, deep breaths that smell like nail polish remover, weakness, fainting spells, fast heartbeats, trembling, excessive sweat and sudden drowsiness.
